Gurudongmar Lake, situated at an altitude of around 17,800 feet in North Sikkim, is one of the highest glacial lakes in the world. Surrounded by snow-clad Himalayan peaks, the lake is revered not only for its breathtaking beauty but also for its deep spiritual significance. How to Reach
Gurudongmar Lake can be reached via Lachen, a small town in North Sikkim that serves as the base for the journey. From Lachen, the lake is around 65 km by road, taking about 3–4 hours of drive through rugged, high-altitude terrain. Permits are required for Indian tourists, while foreign travelers are generally restricted from visiting the lake due to its proximity to the Indo-China border.
