About Kavaledurga fort
Dating back to the 9th century, Kavaledurga Fort, or Bhuvanagiri Fort, is an ancient hill fort at an altitude of 5000+ feet. The fort is located 18 km from Thirthahalli , Shimoga.

History
The fort has a rich history, with construction dating back to the 9th century. Numerous kings later strengthened the fort, like King Cheluvarangappa of Belagutti In the 14th century and later, in the 16th century, Venkatappa Nayaka. During the 18th century, the fort came under the control of Hyder Ali and later Tipu Sultan.
