Skandagiri, also known as Kalvara Durga, is an ancient fort located closer to the Nandi Hills. At an altitude of 1350 meters, the trek is quite famous for night trekking, bird watching, and campaigning among the Bangaloreans.
Trekking Routes
Chikballapur or Nandi Hills Detour: Skandagiri beckons adventure enthusiasts with two routes to the hill’s base. One begins at Chikballapur town, while the other presents a detour from the road leading to Nandi Hills. The trek commences at the Papagni Temple, situated at the hill’s foothold. There are small referest shops set up by local villagers where you can get refreshments like omelets, tea, and cold drinks. They also provide services as guides to those who are beginners in trekking.
