About Plus Valley
Plus Valley is a hidden gem nestled in the Sahyadri mountain range of Maharashtra. The valley gets its name from the natural “+” (plus)-shaped formation of the trails when viewed from above. It is known for its breathtaking landscapes, lush greenery, and thrilling trekking experiences.
An escape into nature with waterfalls, rocky cliffs, and a serene ambiance, making it a perfect destination for adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers.
How to Reach Plus Valley
By Road:
From Pune: Around 70 km (2-hour drive) via Paud Road or Mulshi Road.
From Mumbai: About 150 km (4-hour drive) via Lonavala and Tamhini Ghat.
Nearest town: Mulshi (15 km away).
By Train:
Nearest railway station: Pune Junction (60 km)
From Pune, you can hire a cab or take a local bus towards Tamhini Ghat.
By Air:
Nearest airport: Pune International Airport (65 km)
From the airport, take a taxi or rent a vehicle to reach Plus Valley.
Best Time to Visit
Monsoon (June – September): During monsoon, the valley receives heavy rainfall and turns into a lush green paradise with waterfalls and streams. However, the trails can be slippery, making trekking a bit challenging.
Winter (October – February): This time of the year is ideal for trekking and camping when the weather is pleasant and skies are clear.
Summer (March – May): Avoid visiting the region in the summer months, although early morning treks can still be enjoyed.
Things to Do in Plus Valley
Trekking
It’s a moderate-to-difficult-level trek that passes through descents and rocky terrain. It takes around 4-5 hours to complete the full trek, including the return journey. One of the unique attractions in the valley is the reverse waterfall that appears when water flows upward due to strong winds in the monsoon season.
Camping
The place is perfect for camping, especially during the winter months. A bonfire in the midst of a starry night is a perfect thing for campers.
Photography & Sightseeing
A paradise for nature photographers, the valley has multiple capture spots like waterfalls, cliffs, and dense forests.
Bird Watching & Wildlife Spotting
In the western ghats, it is home to various bird species and small wildlife, including peacocks, langurs, and occasional sightings of wild boars.
Tamhini Ghat: A scenic mountain pass with waterfalls and misty landscapes (10 km).
Mulshi Lake & Dam: A peaceful getaway with stunning views (20 km).
Devkund Waterfall: A mesmerising hidden waterfall near Bhira village (25 km).
Andharban Trek: A dense jungle trek offering stunning valley views (30 km).
