About Vantawng Falls

Location and Accessibility

Vantawng Falls is located near Thenzawl town in Serchhip district, about 137 km from Aizawl. The falls are part of the Vanva River, which flows through the lush hill ranges of central Mizoram.

History and Folklore

The falls are named after Vantawnga, a legendary swimmer renowned for his incredible agility and grace in water. According to Mizo folklore, he could swim like a fish and perform remarkable stunts in the swirling pools beneath the waterfall. Tragically, his life was cut short when a drifting log struck him while he was performing near the falls. The name Vantawng is thus a tribute to his unmatched swimming skills and his love for the river.
