The Legend of Shahzadi Ka Roza

Architectural Marvel of Shahzadi Ka Roza

The structure is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture that features carved stonework, arches, and domes. Built on a 12-foot-high platform, the monument is made of grey-coloured sandstone. There are two storeys, where the first floor is surrounded by walls and the second story, which is actually a  series of arched structures. Like in other structures in Chanderi, the double-storey structure has five blind ogee arches and carved serpent brackets. The same elements are found in the Jami Masjid located in Chanderi.

Adding to the elegance of the structure, brackets are placed to support the monuments on both levels, which are simple and curved. A square room inside the interior of the monument is surrounded by five domes, a larger one in the middle and four at the corners. However, most of these domes are in dilapidated condition. Colour tiles beautifully decorated the upper surface of the monument and still can be seen. Inside the mausoleum, there consists of a single square room housing two sarcophagi. But the identities of those buried remain uncertain.
