History
A captivating blend of colonial charm and spiritual tranquillity, St.mark’s cathedral is situated on Mahatma Gandhi road. Modelled after the St.paul’s Cathedral, the cathedral dates back to 1812. Later it underwent significant expansions and renovations in 1927.
It was constructed to meet the spiritual needs of both army personnel and civilians who migrated from Srirangapatna.Over the years, it has become an iconic landmark in Bangalore.
Architecture
Elaborate woodwork and ornate carvings in the cathedral reflects Colonial-inspired designs. Beautiful designed pictures of roman archers gives aesthetic appeal to the cathedral.Adding a melodic touch to St. Mark’s Cathedral there are well maintained external bells.
