History of Dharwad Lake
Well, Dharwad as a region has a special place in the history of India as it came under different rulers. From Maratha, Mughal, Tipu Sultan, and finally the British East India Company, the region has experienced so many developments in the form of historial relics to artificial lakes. One such fine example of this is Unkal Lake, which is spread over an area of 200 acres. Established 900 years ago, it was constructed originally for the purpose of water supply that was later expanded for irrigation purposes.

Unkal Lake gets its origin from the Bedti River, which originates from western ghats and drains into the Arbian Sea.

A 900-year-old Chandramouleshwara Temple dates back to the Chalukya period. It was built in the period of 11-12th century, housing an idol of Lord Shiva with beautiful engraving decoration on the walls of the temple.
