About Oyster Rock Lighthouse
Also known as Devgad Island Lighthouse, it is situated on Oyster Rock in Devgad Island. Oyster Rocks are a group of small islands and rocks where Devgad is the main summit on which a lighthouse is built.
The lighthouse was constructed in the year 1860 CE and commissioned in the year 25th March 1864 CE.
At a distance of 11 km from Karwar Bus Stand, Oyster Rock Lighthouse, also known as Devgad Island Lighthouse, is a lighthouse situated on Oyster Rock in Devgad Island. Oyster Rocks are the group of small islands and rocks—Devgad being the main summit on which the Lighthouse is situated.
The lighthouse was constructed by the British during 1860 CE and was commissioned into service on 25th March 1864 CE. The colonial-style architecture of this lighthouse is really astonishing.
At the top there is a dome where the entrance leads to the lantern room.
How to reach
Visitors can access the island by a machine boat, which they can access from Karwar port.
