Nestled near Someshwara beach it was constructed during the reign of Queen Abbakka Devi in the 16th century. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple sculptures are beautifully crafted reflecting the craftsmanship of the years.

According to the mythology , Parushrama is believed to be the creator of the coastal region of Kerala and Karnataka. A statue of Parushrama within the temple further reinstated the belief .
