About Surathkal beach
Known for its pristine sands and breathtaking sunset views, Surthakal beach offers a serene retreat along the Arabian sea coastline. One of the popular destinations near Mangalore the beach is bustling with visitors especially during the evening.
Adding to its allure is the historical Sadashiva Temple located near the beach. According to mythology, a piece of the shivalinga fell in Surathkal when Lord Ganesha kept Ravana’s shivalinga on the ground, and this temple stands as a testament to that legend. Adjacent to the temple, atop a small hillock, stands a lighthouse which further enhances the scenic charm of the area.
Contributing to Surathkal’s significance as an educational hub, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) is a premiere institution.
