Lakshmiraman Swamy Temple is one of the oldest temples in Mysore. One of the documented inscription says that Vijayanagar king Narasa Nayake has a grant in 1499 from Vijayanagar king
A divine idol of Lord Vishnu known as Lakshmiramana houses the sanctum of the temple. The four-foot divine idol creates a sacred ambiance inside the temple.
Mythical stories
There are numerous tales of divine intervention and unwavering devotion associated with the temple. One such legend tells of a conspiracy involving poisoned holy water, miraculously averted by the grace of Lord Vishnu, showcasing the divine protection afforded to the faithful.
Another compelling narrative recounts the miraculous cure of a half-blind Brahmin around 1599, attributed to the intercession of Raja Wodeyar. In gratitude, a statue of the Maharaja standing with folded hands was installed in the temple to commemorate the healing.
Restoration
To enhance both its structural integrity and architectural allure, Lakshmiraman Swamy Temple underwent significant renovation in 1851. The restoration effort has preserved the temple’s timeless beauty.
