The Sri Mallikarjuna Temple, also known as Mahanikareshwara Temple, atop Mallappa Hill in Sringeri, is a divine site with a large black-stone Shiva Linga believed to be self-manifested. Dedicated to Malahanikareswara, this temple holds spiritual significance as it marks the spot where Sage Vibhandaka is said to have disappeared from the mortal world.

Mythology
It is believed to be the world where Sage Vibhandaka is said to have disappeared from the mortal world.
Inside the temple, the prominent black-stone Shiva Linga is revered as swayambhu. Apart from the main temple, there is a Bhavani Devi temple located within the same compound. It is believed that it was constructed by Sri Sachidananda Swamiji.
A unique figure of Lord Ganesha, drawn by Sri Abhinava Nrisimha Bharati with turmeric on a pillar, is known as Kambada Ganapati.

Timing
To worship and experience spirituality , Sri Mallikarjuna Temple welcomes devotees and visitors from 6 AM to 2 PM and reopens from 5 PM to 9 PM.
