About Aruvikkuzhi Falls
Located about 18 km from Kottayam town and close to the popular backwater destination of Kumarakom, Aruvikkuzhi Falls is a charming waterfall tucked away amidst rubber plantations and lush greenery.
The waterfall drops from a height of nearly 100 feet (30 meters), creating a soothing natural setting that is ideal for short trips, picnics, and photography. Unlike Kerala’s larger and more dramatic falls, Aruvikkuzhi is celebrated for its serenity and accessibility, making it a favorite weekend getaway for locals and travelers alike.
Scenic Beauty and Atmosphere
The waterfall is surrounded by thick rubber plantations, shady trees, and rocky outcrops, offering a peaceful atmosphere. In the monsoon months, the flow is at its strongest, turning the area into a misty and enchanting spot. During other seasons, the calmer waters create shallow pools suitable for safe splashing.
The gentle sound of cascading water, combined with birdsong and greenery, makes it a rejuvenating spot for nature lovers.
Nearby Attractions: Visitors often combine a trip to Aruvikkuzhi with Kumarakom backwaters, St. Mary’s Church (Aruvikkuzhi), and Ilaveezhapoonchira, a scenic hilltop viewpoint in Kottayam.
