Overview and History
Shri Amareshwar Temple is a pilgrimage site that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It’s a holy place that is located close to the Jwaleshwar temple and approximately 8 km from the Amarkantak bus stand on the border of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Construction of the temple began in 2009 and is still underway. The main sanctum temple houses a massive Shiva lingam that is 11 feet high and weighs 51 tonnes. According to the mythological story, Shivalingam was brought from Omkareshwar, and Jalhari was sourced from Katni.
The unique feature of the temple is the replicas of the 12 jyotirlingas that are spread across India. The temple complex consists of Nandi, which is located outside the temple. Additionally, an individual temple dedicated to Nava Durgas is constructed on the first floor. The whole area around the temple is surrounded by a peaceful and serene atmosphere.
