Diveagar Beach is known for the Olive Ridley Turtles, which come here for nesting. They usually come for nesting between November and February. If you want to experience the simple fishing coastal lifestyle, then Divegar is a perfect spot. It’s a fishing village where you can interact with locals and savour fresh seafood prepared in traditional Konkani style.
Betel nut plantations are quite famous in Divegar. When you walk around these lush green orchards, you experience the Diveagar from different angles.
Temple Treasures
Devgar beach is a religious place that is home to deity Ganesh. In 1997, a pure gold idol of Lord Ganesha was discovered in the village. However, it was theft in 2012, leaving behind the temple a revered spot for devotees. Diveagar, apart from its natural beauty, hosts numerous cultural landmarks like the Survarna Ganesh temple and the Sunder Naryan temple. The Survarna Ganesh temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and houses an idol with a mask made of pure gold. All these temples offer visitors a glimpse into the area’s rich heritage. Divegar is surrounded by historical towns like Shirvardhan and Harihareshwar. Just 20 km away from Harihareshwar, known as “Dakshin Kashi,” is a prominent pilgrimage site.
