Chandreshwar Naryan Temple is an ancient Hindu temple that is situated in a village called Chandrapuri, Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand.
The river that flows through its western bank, called Mandakini, comes from the Kedarnath.
An interesting folklore is associated with the temple. Once, Garhwal was fighting a factional war. Among these factions, there was a king named Bhangar. He ordered his prime minister, Chandramani, to lead the forces. Chandramani was a brave and capable leader. Before fighting, Chandramani had a dream of Vishnu. Vishnu talked about an idol that was kept in a place and dug out. After finding the idols, he assured Chandramani that war would be conquered.
Chandramani also found idols that were stolen from the temple. A long time ago, the idols of Naryan,Lakshmi , Garuda, and Kubera were stolen. Chandramani reinstalled those idols at the Chandreshwar temple.
