Raghunath temple, dedicated to Rama incarnated as Vishnu, is located at the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi at Devprayag. Devprayag is the first major town that falls on the Badrinath-Kedarnath route.

There are numerous temples, like Devi Temple, apart from the Raghunath Temple. The temple was originally owned by Raja Tehri. After the death of Raja, all his belongings were brought to the temple.

Architecture of Raghunath temple

The temple is shaped like a lotus with a dome made of gold. Southern and Buddhist influences are visible on the walls of the temple.  Inside the temple, residing deities Lakshmana, Janaki, and Raghunath shower blessings on the visitors.

An interesting story is related to the priest. The priests are from Maharashtra, descendants of Raja Devasharma, who gave Devprayag its name. While all pujas are conducted by Telugu-speaking descendants of centuries – old migrants.
