About Soochipara Falls
Located near Meppadi in Wayanad district, Soochipara Falls—also known as Sentinel Rock Waterfall—is a three-tiered cascade surrounded by dense forests and rolling tea plantations.
Falling from a height of nearly 200 meters (656 feet), it is one of Wayanad’s most visited natural attractions, famous for its pristine setting and adventure opportunities. The name “Soochipara” comes from the local words soochi (needle) and para (rock), referring to the needle-shaped rock formations in the area.

Soochipara is set amidst the Western Ghats, with panoramic views of valleys and distant mountains. The waterfall forms a natural pool at its base, perfect for swimming and splashing during safe seasons.

How to Reach Soochipara Falls
By Air: The nearest airport is Calicut International Airport (110 km), which connects Wayanad with major Indian cities.
By Rail: Kozhikode Railway Station (100 km) is the closest major railhead, from where buses and taxis are available to Wayanad.
By Road: Soochipara is about 23 km from Kalpetta and 13 km from Meppadi. Roads leading to the falls pass through tea estates and forest patches.
By Public Transport: KSRTC buses operate to Meppadi from Kalpetta, after which jeeps and autos can be hired for the last stretch. Visitors must walk the forest trail from the parking area to reach the falls.
