About Bhavani Lake
A serene high-altitude reservoir, Upper Bhavani Lake is located in the Niglris district of Tamil Nadu. The lake is formed on the upper Bhvavani dam across the Bhavani river. Its a part of Upper Bhavani Hydroelectric Project, which is a source of water and electricity for the region.
The unspoiled environment of the lake is surrounded by dense forests, rolling hills, and vibrant flora, making it a haven for nature lovers and photographers.
Upper Bhavani is part of the Mudumalai Biosphere Reserve, and you have to get the permission of the forest department. Mini jeeps are arranged for the visitors to visit the upper Bhavani Lake, which takes approximately 2 hours back and forth. A first stop is taken for 10 minutes at Shola, which is a valley full of trees and also called Silent Valley Viewpoint. The final stop is at Bhvani upper Lake, and enroute you can also visit the Bhavani Amman Temple
Best Time to Visit: The ideal time to visit Upper Bhavani Lake is between September and May, when the weather is pleasant and the monsoon has revitalised the area with greenery and flowing streams.
