About Honnamana Kere
One of the largest natural lakes in Coorg, Honnamana Kere, is a captivating destination to visit in Coorg. Surrounded by the scenic beauty of a mountain and a vast coffee plantation, the lake is situated in Doddamalthe village, which is 7 km from Somwarpet and 46 km from Madikeri, Coorg.
The lake is surrounded by two hills named Mori Beeta and Gavi Beeta. It further enhances and offers a retreat for visitors seeking respite amid nature’s embrace.
There are a number of outdoor activities, such as boating and fishing, that you can opt for while visiting the Honnamana Kere.
Honnamma Temple
Adjacent to the lake, there is a temple named Honnamma that is dedicated to Goddess Honnamma. It is believed that the goddess has sacrificed her life to protect the village.
During the annual Gowri festival, thousands of devotees gather, pay offerings, and seek blessings from the goddess Honnamma.
