Historical Significance
The idol of Shweta Varahaswamy was initially installed in Srirangapatna, but was later relocated to Mysore by King Chikka Deva Raja Wodeyar in 1809. The temple’s current form is due to the vision of Dewan Purnaiah. He used material from the Hoysala building located in Shimoga district.
Intricate carving on doorways, towers, and pillars reflects the dedication of artisans. It showcases the beauty of Hoysala architecture. The temple’’s high, scaled walls are decorated with captivating murals. Rama Pattabhishekam grandeur on the southern walls showcases artistic brilliance and storytelling through visual narratives.
