About Ambutheertha
Considered the birthplace of the Sharavathi River, Ambuteertha is a scenic destination that holds cultural and religious importance. Situated on the Thirthahalli-Hosanagara road, the place is located at a distance of 87 km from Udupi.
Ambutheertha is believed to be the spot where Lord Rama used his arrow (Ambu) to pierce the earth and release water. Surrounded by thick forest, the sacred place is also home to a Shiva temple that was constructed near the source of the Sharavathi River.
