Khonghampat Orchidarium is one of the most captivating botanical treasures of Manipur, located about 7 km from Imphal on the Imphal–Dimapur highway. Managed by the Manipur Forest Department, this orchid sanctuary houses over 110 rare and endemic orchid species, making it a paradise for botany enthusiasts, nature lovers, and photographers.

Floral Diversity and Significance
The Orchidarium plays a crucial role in conserving Manipur’s rich floral heritage, particularly species native to the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot. Here, visitors can witness both terrestrial and epiphytic orchids in full bloom, including rare varieties such as Dendrobium, Vanda, Cymbidium, and Coelogyne.
The garden also serves as a research and breeding center for orchids, making it significant for horticultural studies. Many of these orchids hold cultural and medicinal value for the local communities of Manipur.
Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to explore Khonghampat Orchidarium is between March and April, when the orchids are in peak bloom and the garden transforms into a kaleidoscope of colors. However, each season offers a different floral experience, as various species bloom at different times of the year.
