About Kalhatty Fall
Kalhatty Falls, also known as Kalhatti Falls, is a picturesque waterfall located near Ooty in the Nilgiri Hills of Tamil Nadu. Known for its serene beauty and natural surroundings, it is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, trekkers, and tourists.
At an altitude of approximately 2,000 meters above sea level. The waterfall is situated 13 km from Ooty on the Ooty-Mysore road. The area is surrounded by dense forests, home to a variety of flora and fauna.It is an ideal place for birdwatching and wildlife spotting, as the region is part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
The water cascades from a height of about 120 feet and flows through rugged terrain, creating small pools and streams that enhance its beauty.
Legends and Mythology
According to local folklore, Sage Agastya is believed to have meditated near the falls.The Kalhatty region is also associated with tales of ancient tribes and their reverence for nature.

The trail leading to the falls is approximately 2 km long from the main road and offers a moderately challenging trekking experience.

The ideal time to visit Kalhatty Falls is during the monsoon season (June to September) and post-monsoon months (October to November) when the waterfall is in full flow.
During summer, the water flow reduces, but the area remains a refreshing escape from the heat.
