Birthi Waterfall, Munsiyari – Uttarakhand

Birthi Waterfall is a stunning waterfall that is located in the scenic town of Munsiyari. It’s a popular tourist attraction that attracts thousands of people from all over the world. The waterfall is surrounded by lush green forest, towering mountains like Madjot, and Khaliya top, and glaciers Milam, Ralam, etc 

A cascade waterfall is 126 meters high and is formed by the Birthi River.  Waterfall has situated 14 km from the town Tejam on Thal Munsiyari road at an altitude of 1781 m above sea level.

The trek to the Birthi waterfall can be taken up by people of all ages. It takes only 15-20 minutes to cover ½  or 1 km to the waterfall from the main road. But if you are heading toward Munsiyari and don’t have time, you can see the waterfall from the main road.

Entry fees for the trek are Rs 20. There are a few shops that have options for tea and snacks. Dannu Maggi Point is popular among visitors.

Accommodation

You can opt for the Kumaon Vikas Mandal Nigam Limited Trh, it’s a rest house, and accommodation can be booked through his caretaker.

Best time to visit Birthi Waterfall

The best time to visit the Birthi Waterfall is during the monsoon. When water gushes out at full force from a height of 400 feet.

How to reach Birthi Waterfall

road

By Road:

From Munsiyari, take the road toward Tejam. The waterfall is located on this road, about 35 kilometers from Munsiyari.

train

By Train:

The nearest railway station to the Birthi Waterfall is Tanakpur Railway Station, which is located at a distance of around 150 km from the waterfall. From the railway station, you can take a private taxi or bus to reach the waterfall.

air

By Air:

The nearest airport to the Birthi Waterfall is Pantnagar Airport, which is located at a distance of around 220 km from the waterfall. From the airport, you can take a private taxi or bus to reach the waterfall.
