Renowned for its ancient Digambar Jain temples, Mandaragiri hill also known as Basadi beeta is located in Tumkur district of Karnataka.It’s a harmonious blend of spirituality and natural beauty.If you’re looking to visit places in Bangalore then it should be in your list.
Jain temples
Built during the 12 to 14th centuries, there are four ancient Digambar Jain temples in Mandaragiri hill dedicated to Bhagwan Chandranatha, Bhagwan Parshwanatha, and Bhagwan Suparshwanatha.
Manastambha
A beautiful carved pillar-like structure greets visitors at the base of the hill. The beautiful structure reminded of the famous thousand pillar temples in Moodbidri.
Chandrakantha Tirthnakara statue
A statue of Chandrakanta Tirthankara standing beside the Manastambha adds a spiritual ambiance of the hill.
Guru Mandir: Serving as a meditation centre, The guru Mandir is shaped like a pinchi (peacock feather fan). The dome of the mandir provides a tranquil space for introspection.
Mydala kere
A beautiful lake, Mydala kere lies behind the hill. It’s serene water provides a perfect setting in the surrounding of towering hills and forests.
To reach the summit you have to climb upto 450 steps carved into the rock.
It’s takes around 15 minutes to cover the distance. On reaching on the top 360- degree provides a breathtaking views.
Sunrise and Sunset view
Panoramic views at Mandaragiri hill offers an excellent opportunity to witness a mesmerising sunrise and sunset.
Timing
The best time to explore the place is from 6am – 6pm.
