Perched on the southern edge of Matheran, Little Chowk Point is one of the hill station’s lesser-known yet incredibly scenic viewpoints. Named after the nearby town of Chowk, located at the base of the hills, this peaceful spot offers visitors a chance to soak in the beauty of the Western Ghats away from the crowds.
The viewpoint is known for its sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, dense forests, and the majestic Sahyadri mountain ranges. On a clear day, visitors can spot the historic Karnala Fort rising above the landscape, along with glimpses of Panvel and the surrounding plains. How to Reach Little Chowk Point
Little Chowk Point is located approximately 1 km from Rambaug Point and can be reached either on foot or by hiring a pony. The walking trail passes through Matheran’s beautiful forest paths, offering a pleasant and refreshing experience. Visitors who prefer a guided sightseeing tour can opt for pony rides that typically cover several popular viewpoints, including Rambaug Point, Alexander Point, One Tree Hill Point, and Little Chowk Point.
To reach Matheran, travelers can take a train to Neral Railway Station, which is well connected to Mumbai and Pune. From Neral, taxis are available up to Dasturi Naka, the entry point of Matheran. Since vehicles are not allowed inside the hill station, visitors must continue by walking, horseback, or hand-pulled rickshaw.
