About Solapur Science Centre
At a distance of 11 km from Solapur Railway Station, the Solapur Science Centre is an educational and cultural centre in Solapur, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the prominent science centres to visit in Solapur and the third-largest science centre in Maharashtra. It is a good place for children and students who have a special interest in science. There are many galleries to showcase scientific principles and learn about stars, space, the moon, Newton’s law, and astrology.
History of Solapur Science Centre
The museum, an autonomous society, is a collaborative effort between the Rajiv Gandhi Science and Technology Commission, Government of Maharashtra, and the National Council of Science Museums, Government of India. It was established on February 14, 2010 with the aim of promoting scientific knowledge, skills, and awareness across all facets of life. It holds the distinction of being Maharashtra’s third-largest science centre.
Exploring the Exhibits
The museum displays a myriad of exhibits, from engaging videos to science-related games. Upon entry, visitors are greeted by a colossal inflatable globe, illustrating the divisions of continents and oceans while offering intriguing insights into the Earth’s surface. A highlight of the museum is the fun science gallery, replete with captivating science applications. Moreover, a textile gallery is a must-visit section where the quiz section is organised and played by 4 players. Notably, outside the premises, an open aeroplane engine display garners attention with its meticulously showcased components.
Immersive Experiences
Solapur Science Centre creates an immersive experience designed to captivate and educate alike. Taramandal Show provides visitors with a celestial journey like no other. When a star projector projects stars within a dome, it provides a wonderful visual spectacle. Additionally, a meticulously curated garden hosts various physics experiments, along with a charming dinosaur park. The 3D theatre offers captivating shows, ensuring a memorable visit for all.
